anime gauge score for bloodivores

(Last Updated On: March 2, 2017)

60 years ago, a strange case of insomnia struck the population, forcing them to stay awake for more than a full week. The victims, completely sleep deprived, all went mad. To cure this illness, a new medicine was produced, but the side effects turned the patients into vampires. Humanity went to war against this new species and triumphed, but some of the vampires managed to survive. Born from a Human and a Vampire, the main character Mi Liu, “The Child of Hope,” is to represent the new hope that will connect the two species. Ringleader of a bank robbery, Mi Liu is arrested and transferred to a special prison of the National Defense Agency that monitors Vampires. Trying to break free with Anji, Mi Liu is attacked by strange monsters and he finds out that the prison location corresponds to the birthplace of Vampires, the old capital “Blue Town.” Why are Vampires trapped in Blue Town? What are those strange monsters attacking them? Our heroes must fight to solve those mysteries. – My Anime List

The show had some stumbling blocks early on with a little bit of corny dialogue, but the addition of the murder, the added character in Anji and Mi Liu, and the hints at a darker past make the show engaging enough to keep watching.

Bloodivores is an exciting anime, particularly because of its plot. The story is progressing at a steady pace and the action is just the right amount. The car chase scene in the first episode was a bit more amazing than the actual story and fight scenes but that’s not to suggest that the animation is bad in any way. While something about it reminded me of Taboo Tattoo (probably the boob owner female lead that does nothing), the anime doesn’t seem nearly as bad. As a matter of fact, it’s good even. Both opening and ending songs felt pleasant to me but the visuals didn’t really go well with the songs.

My Anime List
Overall this series is a hot mess and it will be hard for it to redeem itself in the latter half of the show. Concept is cool, execution bad. Mediocre characters and no interesting motives that drive the characters are found or explained at all. Bloodivores is a mediocre show at best but if you are really into the show, I admit that it may have some appeal and possibility to shine if polished well..

So who knows, maybe this will get better and all the bizarre actions will make perfect sense, but I doubt it.

When I first saw the first episode, I thought it would be a decent action adventure. Nothing to terribly deep, but something that could keep me entertained. Was I wrong. I watched this story to episode 5 in the hopes that something would grab me, but nothing ever did.

With poor writing, cinematography, and visuals, I would usually suggest this if you want a good laugh, but it’s not even so bad it’s good. It’s just so bad it’s bland.
