Drifters

(Last Updated On: December 11, 2017)

Shimazu Toyohisa, whilst involved at the Battle of Sekigahara, manages to mortally wound Ii Naomasa, but is critically wounded in the process. As he walks from the field broken and bleeding, Toyohisa finds himself transported to a corridor of doors, where a bespectacled man at a desk waits for him. This man, Murasaki, sends Toyohisa into the nearest door where he wakes up in another world. There, Toyohisa meets other great warriors like him who have been transported as well, to be part of a group known as “Drifters.” – My Anime List

If you crave wanton violence and mayhem, Drifters will deliver it on a silver platter. In the need of some unexpectedly hilarious dialogue? Drifters has you covered. Desire a great dose of memorable characters and some fist-pumping visuals? Yes, Drifters has that, as well. In fact, the only thing this anime doesn’t have is the one thing you, readers, can give it: some undivided attention.

Honestly, this is the show I had hoped Fate was going to be when I first heard about the base concept and personal bias I would give this show a 10 but I understand that it has flaws and wanted to give a more accurate review for others to judge by.

As a longtime fan of the manga, I still had fun with what this adaptation accomplished, And that’s taking the ridiculous concept of throwing random historical figures together in a Medieval/Middle Earth-style fantasy setting and creatively turning it into an Intense, action-heavy thrill ride.

Episode one is building up the suspense and mystery of why historical figures were taken out of history and place in that world. Honestly, the set up for Drifters is quite refreshing.

Overall the series is so far (9th episode) good. From my point of view it is not as good as the Hellsing Ultimate, but still better than many present day series.
