With his muscular build and tall stature, Takeo Gouda is not exactly your average high school freshman. However, behind his intimidating appearance hides a heart of gold, and he is considered a hero by the boys for his courage and chivalry. Unfortunately, these traits do not help much with his love life. As if his looks are not enough to scare the opposite sex away, Takeo’s cool and handsome best friend and constant companion Makoto Sunakawa easily steals the hearts of the female students—including every girl Takeo has ever liked.
When Takeo gallantly saves cute and angelic Rinko Yamato from being molested, he falls in love with her instantly, but suspects that she might be interested in Sunakawa. With his own love for Yamato continuing to bloom, Takeo unselfishly decides to act as her cupid, even as he yearns for his own love story. – My Anime List

This show has been one of the best romances I have watched. It’s simple and free of drama, full of happiness and moments that will make you fall in love. It’s a little slice of heaven and the show that is sure to put a skip in your step.

In the end, Ore Monogatari is truly a gem in the vast sea of Anime. Even if you’re not too fond of slice of life genres, it’s such an incredible and light hearted show that you can’t help but watch it! After the series ends you’ll do nothing but yearn for more yet are somehow content because you know what you got was way better than not having it at all.
Personally, This Is One Of or The Best Anime This Season, you will like every character this series has to offer

You’re much better off watching Chihayafuru, which displays the talent of roughly the same staff far more accurately.
Really, really cute and sweet (most of the time) and with enough humor and nuance to the side-character arcs to keep it interesting. It falls just short of a perfect score for me because of the possibly unrealistic lovey-doveyness of the main couple; I’d say don’t bother with this is romance is not your genre.
I would definitely recommend Ore Monogatari to anyone who is a hopeless romantic, or anyone who enjoys romance anime in general. The ending definitely had some sort of closure, with Takeo taking a huge leap for both him and Rinko by calling her by her first name. We also can see how everyone is moving forward with their life, all of them with a seemingly brighter outlook on things and the future.
If you are looking for a series with action, tension or something a little racy you are in for a disappointment; instead ‘My Love Story!!’ is a gentle and rather chaste romance. While others may take an interest in the protagonists few people would suspect their relationship might flounder. That doesn’t mean this is boring though; far from it; the characters are likable and it is enjoyable to spend time with them
I see tons of articles like “Chick Flicks Your Boyfriend Will Love”, I feel this would be the anime equivalent of a movie on that list. The show does have it’s faults, flat characters, lack of plot progression, repetitiveness, reliance on tropes, however the characters are so endearing that many of these faults can be overlooked.
Ore Monogatari!! is a story about a pure and innocence ‘first’ love. It does not have much development compared to other romance anime where each episode is filled with drama. This anime is a slow-paced romcom that is perfect for a ‘chill’ night. If you are tired of all the drama other shoujo anime have been providing, then this anime is perfect.
