With just five students (none in the same grade ), the four girls of the tiny Asahioka Branch School still enjoy watching cherry blossoms, playing in rivers, digging potato, and building igloos together. The pace is very slow yet enjoyable and heartwarming. – My Anime List

One of the most beautiful anime I’ve ever watched. Very relaxing and stress relieving. Not as funny as the first Non Non Biyori but still very enjoyable. No other anime is as peaceful as this one for sure. The two Non Non Biyori give us an idea about dailylife in Japan’s countryside, unlike other dailylife anime(s) which mostly tell us about high school girls’ life in modern city. Non Non Biyori also tells us how beautiful the village in Japan is. I can’t really confirm this because I’ve never visited countryside in Japan. Asahigaoka in this anime is perhaps not a real location in Japan.
Non Non Biyori Repeat is a worthy second season of the countryside slice-of-life series. With great visuals, characters and comedy, this is one that should definitely be watched.
A worthy follow-up to the first season. “Repeat” or not, this show’s still got it.
It is not just the children interacting with one another that make the series what it is, it is both the “secondary characters” (in particular the interaction between Renge and “Candystore”) and the continually, lovingly and lavishly animated setting, which is almost strong enough to be a character itself, and the delicately and intelligently chosen soundtrack of the background music. And speaking of music, the ED for the series worked well, yes, but the OP for the series, despite its unusual blend of banjo, electric guitar and nano.RIPE vocals, worked really well, and perhaps was among the most “effective” (if not THE most effective) of any OP I watched this season. With the second season I found myself effortlessly drawn back into the slowly moving, quiet current of the story almost immediately, yes, but I also found myself drawn in deeper, and to me that was simply due to the series “learning from its missteps”. The second season was downright great, and well worth watching (and re-watching, in my opinion). Do consider giving it a chance if you like this sort of content and have not yet seen it! Thank you so much for this season … and hope to see you in a third!
Non non biyori repeat is cute and light hearted, full of peace and joy. Although there is not one story line that carries through the season and a goal to head towards, I think you will like this anime if you liked Love Live! and Is this order a rabbit?
Non Non Biyori Repeat isn’t exactly a repeat because it does change things up from the first season in significant ways. But, in a lot of other ways, it is a repeat because it takes us through another year of light and somewhat superficial events with no real threats, problems, or stressful situations for the cast to deal with. And while you do want that for kids to some degree you also want them to learn how to cope with things. A lack of problems to deal with can lead to issues. But for those wanting to just immerse yourself into this quiet little world that will take your troubles away while avoiding significant moe-induced moments, Non Non Biyori Repeat hits a sweet spot better than the first season. And it’s loaded up with great extras that are worth spending the time digging into that you won’t get elsewhere.
My Anime List
While the season may have wrapped up, and the legendary sword being put to an end after its reign has been established, the welcome it gave was all the more special. Our time to spend time with the cast and characters may have been short, but it truly felt like a connection was made after our year of memories made. Opening in the spring with a brand new school year, with a year to look forward to, and closing with the spring to open a new chapter in our life as we graduate and open ourselves to new experiences. I look to the future when we may meet and spend time as a group again, but for now, I’ll keep the new fondly made bonds cherished and hope others will feel the same while watching this.

Non Non Biyori Repeat is a hilarious slice of life comedy about grade school kids adjusting to rural Japan. Living in a rural part of America myself, I could actually relate to the main characters’ lack of entertainment in the countryside, I’ve also lived in larger cities before, so Hotaru’s new adjustment also felt relatable.
This series was an utter delight; the humour was very gentle with nothing whatsoever to offend. The characters are for the most part entirely believable. The fact that the humour is so gentle doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of genuine laugh out loud moments. The animation looks good and the backgrounds are stunning; perfectly capturing the rural setting. Overall I’d recommend this series to any fans of the slice of life genre; it was great.
