In times of need, if you look in the right place, you just may see a strange telephone number scrawled in red. If you call this number, you will hear a young man introduce himself as the Yato God.
Yato is a minor deity and a self-proclaimed “Delivery God,” who dreams of having millions of worshippers. Without a single shrine dedicated to his name, however, his goals are far from being realized. He spends his days doing odd jobs for five yen apiece, until his weapon partner becomes fed up with her useless master and deserts him.
Just as things seem to be looking grim for the god, his fortune changes when a middle school girl, Hiyori Iki, supposedly saves Yato from a car accident, taking the hit for him. Remarkably, she survives, but the event has caused her soul to become loose and hence able to leave her body. Hiyori demands that Yato return her to normal, but upon learning that he needs a new partner to do so, reluctantly agrees to help him find one. And with Hiyori’s help, Yato’s luck may finally be turning around. – My Anime List

The one downside of Noragami is that it was only 12 episodes long. Financially, that’s understandable as a studio doesn’t know how well a series will perform. But, being that Noragami was arguably the best series from the winter of 2013, it’s inevitable that a second season will be released. With such a great narrative, characters that are deep and a joy to watch, wonderful visuals and an attention to detail, there is just so much to love with this series. Plus the fact that the story keeps you coming back to see what happens next, what more could you ask for from an anime series? Bring on season two!
Sakura Colored Sky
Noragami was easily my pick of the Winter 2014 season. Bringing forth a really immersive and unique world that I looked forward to diving further into each and every episode. The characters are lovable, the plot elements are solid, and the darker turns it takes later in the series catches you by surprise and holds your attention to the end. I can’t recommend it enough and I really hope we see more from this world.
Noragami is good. Really, really good. There are only 12 episodes (14 counting the OVAs), so it’s not a long series by any definition. But it’s packed with emotion, and the characters and humour make it one of the most entertaining anime shows that I’ve seen. As I’ve previously stated, the only problem with it is the underwhelming villains, and since there’s a good chance that that will be fixed in the next season, the only flaw pretty much becomes a moot point.
Overall ‘Noragami’ is a great anime to watch. It contains all the elements necessary to keep you engaged with the story. We seriously can’t wait to see a second season.
This Is Another Castle
Noragami is a series with incredible potential. Despite simple story, the characters are easy to love, the music is spot on, and the animation is gorgeous. A strong environment and sense of cultural atmosphere draw us not only into the anime, but into Japanese culture as well.
My Geek Review
Overall, this anime is one worth watching. Although I would particularly recommend it to youth, wayward/rebellious youth, and young adults, I think this is a splendid anime for any age group. The characters are synced well and the art is beautiful. Color schemes and characters are easy to understand/process and the plot lines are fun. Each episode is relatively short and it is easy to finish in six hours.
Noragami is a solid anime that should provide plenty of entertainment to anyone who strays across its path.
Noragami is a fun take on the gods (kami) of the Shinto religion. The characters are mostly fun to watch, given a few episodes when I struggled to enjoy a few. The music and SFX are well done, and entertaining contrasts to a story about ancient gods. The animation is of good quality, but won’t ever really blow you away. Overall it’s a fun, short show and worth the 4(ish) hours it takes to watch the season.
My Anime List
Now, even though I’d like to call it as such, Noragami is not perfect, as is anything else out there. But though it has its problems, I was never once bored or dissatisfied with this show to a large extent. The only thing that would make this bump up to a ten would be the confirmation of more to come. Though the anime had its happy (if not rushed) ending, there is still so much manga content to be animated, including the /incredible/ arc focusing on Bishamon, Yato’s other arch-nemesis from centuries ago, but now’s not the time to mention that. Noragami is a great blend of comedy and the supernatural, a character-driven show that really gets you to feel and has a tone that tends to capture. Beneath it all are underlying tones of darkness and grief, but still manages to put on a lighthearted tone when it needs to. But all in all, I had a great time watching the ride and grew attached to it. This anime will most definitely have a little reserved corner in my heart as one of the greatest animes of the Winter 2014 season and I’m looking forward to the possibility of a future season. And with that, I leave you.
Noragami is one of those rare gems that will hopefully keep your passion for anime alive and well and truly kicking. There are characters you will probably like and characters that you will undoubtedly hate. In the end what you are left with is a refreshing and beautifully executed tasteful dish, that you sadly wish was just a little bit bigger (longer).
Anime News Network
A supernatural action series for those wanting something with a bit more substance.
All in all, Noragami is actually a pretty fun series with some interesting ideas that doesn’t quite execute them all the way this time around. The second season has a strong foundation to, hopefully, continue to build on this stable foundation. As easy as it is to poke fun at it, the series is incredibly enjoyable, from looking good to having an engaging cast of characters to creating an incredible world to explore. I can’t wait to see season 2!

Be sure to check out both the anime and the manga!!! I would recommend you watch the anime if though if you haven’t read the manga, just so that you can enjoy it to the fullest as oppose to nitpicking the flaws I have mentioned in the above. But regardless of which order you decide to go with, or if you have already read the manga- you can still enjoy it just as I have.

My Bubble Tea Time
Noragami is an great light-hearted action and romcom anime. The show was enticing to watch during its every moment. The biggest negative about this show was the fact that it was twelve episodes. If it was twenty-five then I doubt this problem would have existed. Either way, I recommend this anime to viewers who enjoyed Blood Lad or Kyoukai No Kanata.
I recommend this anime if you need an anime that’s short, the overall story is boring at the beginning, but at the end, it’s gets enjoyable. If you have time, you could probably finish this anime in 1 or 2 days.
CTRL Geek Pod
If you love the concept of the living and spiritual realms blending with one another, NORAGAMI is the perfect series for you. While it was disappointing to see a directionless story that seemed to only care about Yukine, we still enjoyed every moment that was shared between the wonderfully vast group of characters, especially Yato, Yukine and Hiyori.
TD Work Group
It’s an ok series with likable enough characters, but it felt like they didn’t give me a chance to get too invested into those characters. And, unfortunately for me, it’s going to be another middle of road amnesia-anime. Literally one of those series, a couple years from now, I’ll have to look on my ‘watched’ list to even remember I watched it. Again, it had its moments and definitely had/has potential. Perhaps with multiple seasons and more character depth, I’ll actually give more of a shit. Or two.
Noragami boast some impressive scenes but how they got there was most unimpressive, with no strong backbone to the story it really felt more like a magical slice of life with some awful drama elements. I think if you are the type of person who doesn’t expect much from their anime and is content with some kawaii characters, some decent action and emotional scenes and some slice of life then you will enjoy this anime. However in terms of technical execution, storyboarding, character design and world setting, there is much left to be desire. I would not recommend this anime to anyone over the age of 18 and I would not recommend this anime to people who appreciate the artistic side to animation.
