Haruhi Fujioka is a bright scholarship candidate with no rank or title to speak of—a rare species at Ouran High School, an elite academy for students of high pedigree. When she opens the door to Music Room #3 hoping to find a quiet place to study, Haruhi unexpectedly stumbles upon the Host Club. Led by the princely Tamaki, the club—whose other members include the “Shadow King” Kyouya, the mischievous Hitachiin twins, and the childlike Haninozuka “Honey” and his strong protector Mori—is where handsome boys with too much time on their hands entertain the girls in the academy.
In a frantic attempt to remove herself from the hosts, Haruhi ends up breaking a vase worth eight million yen and is forced into becoming the eccentric group’s general errand boy to repay her enormous debt. However, thanks to her convincingly masculine appearance, her naturally genial disposition toward girls, and fascinating commoner status, she is soon promoted to full-time male host and plunged headlong into a glitzy whirlwind of elaborate cosplays, rich food, and exciting shenanigans that only the immensely wealthy Ouran Host Club can pull off. – My Anime List

Great for shounen-ai lovers and haters alike, this high school comedy hits on all the right notes. (Eye-candy for the girls is a bonus, and Haruhi is cute!)
The Discriminating Fan Girl
I would highly recommend OHSHC, but I think a viewer might get more out of the show if they were familiar with anime and manga. OHSHC is designed to be a parody which contains parodies inside the larger parody about the more funky aspects of anime and manga.
Confessions Of A Geekess
If you haven’t seen this anime, I recommend it. It is fun, cute, and light hearted.
It’s difficult not to enjoy this series if you like the genre. It is one of the better known shoujo manga series, and with good reason.
Anime Manga 4 All
I confess that I have watched the entire series of 26 episodes three times already, and I haven’t gotten tired of it yet. In fact, I liked it better the third time around. And I loved the ending to the anime as well, and a good ending is quite rare in anime. Another thing I like about Ouran High School Host Club is its soundtrack. The orchestral tunes as well as the opening and ending themes are quite perfectly suited to the anime.
The Forgotten Lair
Wow, with that kind of ending, you know there’s GOT TO be another season and that there’s more to the story. Or at least we’d hope so.

Little Cloud Curiosity
At first, I thought this anime was all laughs, but like almost every other anime and manga I have watched and read, there is some heart behind the hilarity and that is what makes Ouran such a great series for all anime lovers. Every episode always leave me with a smile as I watch the end credits. To every girl who steps through the door, whether they be little girls who have lost their way, rich students who have nothing better to do, or young women who need to be cheered up, the Host Club is all about bringing happiness.
Ouran High School Host Club has proved to be a great series, although having some flaws in the way the show ended and not broadcasting in HD are some of my own personalgripes with the show. It’s certainly something to show any level of anime watcher, although some might resist more than they should when they first hear “Sakura Kiss” playing.
HS Media Nerd Reviews
Even though I honestly loved this anime, it’s kind of hard to recommend to most people. It is a show that’s generally for the female audience, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes romance. If you hate romance, though, then don’t touch this show with a ten-foot pole. This is also a great show if you like comedies and fantastic characters, so if you like those types of anime, go ahead and watch it.
Ramblings On Readings
Still ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY worth watching. You will laugh so hard you’ll cry. I plan on watching the whole series again sometime soon. You really won’t regret it.
Nowadays, I tend to avoid more popular fare since anime has come a far way from the series I grew up with and love, but I’m really glad my one friend (the one who writes the yaoi lemons) introduced me to this series. I was hooked from the first episode and the feeling was bittersweet to see it end. I would definitely recommend it.
Hue Hue Anime Reviews
Whether your a girl or a guy though, Ouran has something to offer to everyone. Don’t pass it by just because of its Reverse Harem statues, I’ve seen plenty of guys who love Ouran. Starting with the English cast.
Full Metal Narcissist
Ouran High School Host Club is one of the funniest anime ever made. It’s executed flawlessly, trying it’s hand at a surprisingly large number of tones and effortlessly succeeding at nearly all of them. The artwork, animation and music are all breathtaking, which is clearly indicative of the love and time that went into this project. While it may not carry the label of “Ironically bad-ass” that Princess Tutu has been blessed with, it’s still one of those few shoujo titles that’s just as enjoyable for male viewers… Perhaps even more so… As it is for female viewers. The characters are rich, complex and loveable and care deeply for one another, but not so much that they can’t antagonize and prank each other in the process. So if you’ve got too much time on your hands, then please, step into this series and allow the hosts to pamper you just like their actual clients.
Whether or not Ouran High School Host Club is seen as one of the best anime of all time is yet to be seen, but it definitely is one of the best and most impressive series of 2006 (even though much of the hype may have been stolen by another Haruhi.) While it may not be necessarily entirely original and while it may not have an amazing storyline, Ouran’s amazing cast, brilliant hilarity, heart-felt social commentary, and undeniable charm elevates it far above mediocrity. It may be too soon to call this a truly great anime, but for anyone out there with even a passing interest in romantic comedies or enjoyable shows in general, Ouran is a must see.
Ouran High School host club is the first Anime i ever watched- thanks to the incredible hilarity of this show, the first of many. This show has a Hilarious cast who don’t take things too seriously, break the fourth wall, and get on like a family. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a good laugh!
Ouran High School Host Club is a very funny show that, although at times can get quite awkward (looking at you twins!), does unabashedly speak to the Japanese sense of humour. The DVD transfer on this series collection may not be the greatest, but the show is quite a few years old now and if it’s an issue for anyone (which it shouldn’t be), there’s always the blu-ray option which undoubtedly has the better visual quality. The extras on this release especially impressed me as I’m a sucker for a blooper reel, and the featured outtakes for Ouran are long and hilarious. Also great to hear commentary for 6 episodes, although at times it can come across as shallow and self-indulgent. None-the-less, the passion of the creators for the series is palpable throughout. Ouran High School Host Club Series Collection is a great 4 disc set that is well worth it. Just remember, the themes may not be suitable for those under the age of 15…unless for a laugh, you want to see them utterly confused!
Ouran High School Host Club is wonderful for teens who like a bit of romance, and I think it may be better suited for females.
Overall, this is a series that’s made me laugh a lot, and still does every time I watch it, as well as it doesn’t fail to make me look inside myself for something other than hate towards shoujo (yes, I’m a shoujo hater).
This love letter to the genre is simply beautiful, and I think it’s going to be relevant for as long as this media exists.
Finally, I would like to state my personal opinion on this series. I don’t enjoy fanservice in an anime when it is the full focus of the series, and some would consider this to be a fanservice series. However, if you look past that, you actually end up with a rather solid series that has some great character development and a less-great but none the less enjoyable storyline (Well, most episodes, some are just down-right creepy). For anyone after something a bit different, this might be appealing to you.
When I started watching Ouran, I expected a silly, shallow, rather underwhelming series, the way the episodes were moving. But this is surely a series worth watching, even though it is a bit of a late starter.

There are lots of laughs and pretty boys waiting for you at the Host Club so what are you reading this review for?
Despite a few major flaws, I felt a sadness when Ouran High School Host Club came to an end. It’s one of those shows I’d consider impossible not to love, and is worth watching for the humour alone. If you think you’ve seen everything the highschool anime drama has to offer, then think again. Ouran never fails to surprise.
If you like shojou type of anime, this one is for you. 😀 Kiss, Kiss, Fall in love!
While the plots are pretty generic, the show itself is outrageously funny. These rich kids see nothing wrong with elaborate and expensive plans to do something simple and Haruhi is often the lone voice of sanity, screaming in the wilderness. The show goes to great lengths to poke fun at stereotypes found in anime, especially anime aimed at women. While the characters never break the 4th wall and talk to the audience directly, they do seem to realize that they are in an anime show. At one point Haruhi proclaims that it doesn’t seem appropriate to end a show with just a bunch of ‘moe’ (large-eyed characters who look cute) but that’s what they do anyway. In another a character pigeon-holes all of the members of the club based on their shojo stereotypes. My favorite running gag however is the things that pop up in the club’s room. When they need to capture somebody, they drop a cage on them, when someone wants to make a grand entrance they raise out of the floor on an elevated pedestal. Haruhi is the only one who finds this odd constantly asking questions like “Why is there a cage hidden in the ceiling of a music room!?”
This is one of the best comedies ever made and if you like comedies this is the show for you. The anime is supposed to be a romantic comedy, but as the romance is not very strong in it, it can’t really be considered “romantic”, but the comedy more than makes up for it. The plot consists of mostly one arc episodes and sometimes two arc episodes which are amazing in terms of comedy; there’s not a single boring moment in the anime, and is generally very enjoyable. If you enjoyed Gintama’s comedy, you will certainly like this. The animation is generally good and all the characters are likeable and have well developed personalities and back stories. This anime is a must watch for any anime fan

Every episode in Ouran was a different individual story, where the main characters helped others out and we as the audience learnt more about them as time went on. I also loved the last two episodes, and even though they weren’t in the manga, that ending made it all worthwhile. All in all, I fell in love with Ouran, and I’m sure everyone else that watches it will too.

Ouran High School Host Club does this in dazzling form, and I didn’t even talk about its dazzling animation and music. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
I have to say that I wasn’t sure about this anime when I first read about it. It’s about a social club setup by the elite of the Ouran Highschool which is made up by the richest and most powerful children. This anime revolves around the Host Club at Ouran Highschool, and Haruhi who is a regular person who got accept into this prestigious school by a grant and she turns them all upside down. For the longest time they think she is a guy and I have to say that this is one of the funniest and heartfelt anime that I have seen in a long time. In the beginning it pulls you in at the beginning with its amazing comedy and satire, you just can’t get enough of it. And as the story goes a long you see the connection between Tamaki – The Idiot Leader, Kyouya – the Shadow King, Honey – Tiny Fighter, Miro – The Quite One, and the Twins. And Haruhi thrown in between all these characters you just won’t get enough of it, I have to say that I haven’t seen an anime that has gotten my blood going like this one to the point where I wanted to watch it all in one go.
Ouran Host Club is a good show that could have been extraordinary. Anyone who watches the first episode can see the amazing potential in the show; the premise is clever and feel-good, the characters are loveable and unique, and the seiyuu are just plain wonderful. Oddly enough, only a lack of ambition on behalf of the writers really prevents the show from rising to the amazing heights of shows like Azumanga Daioh and Princess Tutu.
Overall, Ouran did have its very good moments. Some episodes were just hilarious. It’s just too bad that these good episodes were surrounded by bad episodes. Still, it remains a fairly good comedy, and the drama aspects were fine. It’ll be a fine watch, although boring at times.
Over Powered Entertainment
This is an unexpected gem and if you have several hours to devote to it, I definitely recommend it.
Although Ouran never really went anywhere, it was still a whole lot of fun. With likable characters and a unique concept Ouran High School Host Club seems to have all the ingredients to make a great show and even though it had a few pitfalls, it turned out to be a genuinely fun ride.
The ending, too, is reminisce of Hana Yori Dango, but far too rushed for my liking.
