Struggling yet brilliant teenager Minato Sahashi has failed his college entrance exams for the second time, resulting in him being regarded as worthless by those around him. However, the course of his seemingly bleak future is altered dramatically when a beautiful, supernatural woman falls from the sky and into his life. That woman, Musubi, is a unique being known as a “Sekirei,” a humanoid extraterrestrial with extraordinary abilities. These aliens are known for kissing humans carrying the Ashikabi gene in order to awaken additional latent powers deep within. Recognizing the potential within the seemingly insignificant youth, Musubi kisses the bewildered Minato, initiating a bond between the two of them. This drags him into the high-stakes world of the Sekirei, where he and his new partner must compete against others in a battle for survival called the “Sekirei Plan.” However, unbeknownst to the contestants, there is far more at risk that what the competition initially entailed. – My Anime List

Sekirei is an Anime and Manga series that will entertain over and over again. I’ve owned this Anime for several years and can still watch it from beginning to end. This is one of those worlds you can escape into and experience the coming together of strangers who form close friendships and love for one another (Bonds) while trying to live a normal daily life and also contend with the challenges of The Sekirei Plan.
I’m finding that I’m terrible at summoning up an entire TVshow, but I don’t care. I love this show. I love the characters and their interactions and really the larger plot at hand is just back drop in order to continue putting the characters in new settings. You can find this show in the usual places or on DVD. Because it’s Funimation and Aniplex that have the American rights, they’ve totally fucked up the DVD/Bluray releases. The first season is only available on DVD and the second season has this terrible hybrid of both in a giant case that’s half empty. It’s weird for sure, but I recommend it because it’s uncensored, meaning no mist boobies. Check it out, leave a comment on what you thought of it, be it bad or good. Personally, I’ll still like it and wait with baited breath for the third season to make its way to our shores… sigh.

Overall, Sekirei is a very enjoyable harem anime for fans of the genre and potentially a series for those looking for a decent action comedy with likable characters. The overwhelming fanservice means the show isn’t for everyone, but for those so inclined, it’s a rewarding series with a big heart and plenty of powerful emotion.
If you like nudity, comedy, fighting, and anime’s to be English dubbed then this anime is for you! I personally find this anime to be great as a guy who used to watch lots if anime each day! This anime gives me the “Rosario vampire” vibes to it so in my opinion definitely worth the watch! there needs to be a season 3 of this!!!!
Sekirei is a harem fanservice comedy action spectacle with a plot that isn’t too shabby for this kind of genre. Being a big fan of the Sekirei manga I had my doubts whether this anime will live up to my expectations. But unlike many other recent manga adaptations, this time they did a pretty decent job. Animation and script are of a quality adequate for telling the sekirei story. However, those who read the manga will certainly find a few things that are missing or are not presented adequately, to say the least.

As a whole, if you like fanservice anime but are disappointed in the lack of stories, I would recommend watching this one. It has a great story, along with some nice progression, and it’s definatley one of the better fanservice animes out there, compared to others.
Unleash The Anime
I loved Sekirei and like so many others that have seen it I’m gonna wait and hope for a third season because that cliffhanger was almost to the point of cruel and unusual punishment. I loved so many things about this show that I am actually finding myself shocked that I loved an ecchi harem anime as much as I enjoyed this one. As I said the story itself is fantastic and doesn’t even need the fan service. While there are some plot holes I’m sure that those were supposed to be filled in during later seasons that may or not be happening now. It’s because of this that I’m cutting the show some slack on that department.
An unexpected surprise and very much relevant to my interests.
I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed this series; the characters were interesting and by the end I really cared about whether or not they would survive the climactic battle. Given the size of the girls chests the fanservice looked as if it was designed to be more comic than erotic. As well as the action there are plenty of comic moments such as one Sekirei who is never without a bottle of sake and Minato’s harem competing for his affections. At only twelve episodes the series ended all too soon although I hear that a second series is due to be released this Summer. Given that it can be watched free and legally on Funimation’s YouTube channel at the moment I’d recommend checking it out if you aren’t offended by gratuitous nudity.
Far from being painfully average, Sekirei entertains so long as it remains on the screen, but doesn’t rise above the low bar it sets for itself. Watching the show for the first time, the viewer can applaud himself on recognizing moe archetypes and marvel at the nifty super powers on display, but the unoriginal premise and middling execution means the show hardly warrants a second viewing. Bouncing along like the chests of its female leads, this anime shoves to the side any and all plot threads that don’t directly concern Minato and his coven of comely combatants. Straightjacketed by the supposed demands of its target demographic, the series remains unfailingly true to its setup and modest goals, and in so doing loses a shot at being something memorable.
My Anime List
I enjoyed the series very much. Each episode has its own comedy to laugh at and at the same time it still contain enough action and drama to make the overall story attractive enough to me glued to the screen episode after episode. Definitely worth spending your time on.
If you like hentai, you’ll love this Sekirei box set. If you’re into great storytelling and delicious animation, you may find it lackluster. It’s up to you, but personally, I wouldn’t spend money on this. Though the special features are great!
The Inside Reel
Progressive and yet retroactively traditional, “Sekirei” has fun with its motifs affecting to a tongue-in-cheek progression while still balancing both excitement and emotional tones despite some story gaps.
Some fun antics save it from the bottom pit, but not by much. Avoid it like you would avoid sweet, sweet promises tailormade for election day.
The Nihon Review
Perhaps this is only the beginning – now that all the pieces have been put into place, maybe we can have things like, you know, development. Music and art were nothing worth mentioning, especially when you add in the boob complex. There’s a limit to how big you can make them, and when an animator crosses that line for every character it makes the ecchi that less special. I was on the fence at the end of the day on this one, but I will eagerly await the subtly implied sequel to see if Sekirei can be redeemed.
