Tokyo Ravens

(Last Updated On: August 18, 2017)

Onmyoudou magic was once a powerful technique used by the Japanese during the second World War in order for them to gain the upper hand and establish their nation as a formidable force. But Japan was quickly defeated after the revered onmyouji Yakou Tsuchimikado caused the “Great Spiritual Disaster,” an event which plagues Tokyo to this very day. As a result of this mishap, the Onmyou Agency was established in order to exorcise further spiritual disasters and combat the demons that would make their way into the world. Now, Onmyoudou has become far more modern, simplified, and refined for use in a wide variety of applications such as medicine and technology. However, not everyone is able to utilize the magic, as is the case with Harutora, a member of the Tsuchimikado’s branch family. Despite an old promise to protect Natsume, the heir of the Tsuchimikado’s main family and Yakou’s supposed reincarnation, as her familiar, Harutora has no talent and chooses to live a normal life instead. But when a prominent member of the Onmyou Agency attempts to recreate the same experiment which led to Japan’s downfall, he decides to make good on his word and fight by Natsume’s side. – My Anime List

Draggle
A somewhat generic premise. Kids go to school, become friends, save the world from evil. But with cool onmyouji shit! So I liked it a lot. Even if I had no clue what was going on half the time. Like with everything involving the chief priest, Harutora’s lost memories, and the ending.

Anime Cataclysm
Overall, Tokyo Ravens may not be a masterpiece but it is still 100% worth the time to watch it. It isn’t the caliber of the show that I’ll recommend to you, but if you are looking for a generic supernatural/fantasy anime, look no further this show is just for you!

Ani Help
Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the anime, it has some huge flaws. The story, for one, is somewhat predictable. The first half of the anime is basically the whole pacing to the intense paced 2nd half, so the pacing is quite slow. Another thing is that the anime squishes in romance in the anime, to the point where you might forget or not even care about the romance since the show didn’t showcase any development of it.

Eleven Tsuki
For an action/supernatural anime, this one is quite typical. The character development is predictable and the story line doesn’t really expand as much as I thought it would. However, it’s still entertaining to watch because of its smooth animation, comedy and action. Not too bad for those who are just looking to entertain themselves. For those looking for a deeper story, maybe another Tokyo story about ghouls?

THEM Anime
I did actually enjoy a lot of it, but it’s also weirdly hard for me to recommend. Maybe add a star if you’re really into this subgenre.
